Ballet, A Tool for Health
Floor Barre For Everyone, In this class, you will learn a series of exercises and stretches for dancers developed by ballerinas Tricia Kaye and Alexandra Baldina. The series is performed lying down on the floor—hence the name “Floor Barre”—to minimize the effects of gravity on the body. Specifically designed to achieve the following, this series is a great tool for health:
* Length in the spine (Decompression)
* Space in the hips (Decompression)
* Gentle enough for any body at any age
* Gentle and gradual changes (rather than forcing the body into harsh positions)
* Increased awareness of your body
* Improved interoception (awareness of your internal spatial relationships)
This class uses a specialized movement vocabulary (Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies) designed to teach you proprioception, or where you are in space, and how to execute the series safely and aligned. As a foundation for healthy movement in everyday life, these exercises can be done daily in as little as 10 minutes, or more slowly over 45 minutes.
The Floor Barre is centered around listening to one’s body and is intended to gently teach you the secrets of your body rather than force you into harsh experiences. Your life, health, and body are respected. I teach all ages and levels simultaneously as we can all learn together and from one another.

Breath
Breath: How to Breathe Fully; In my work as a Somatic Movement Therapist, I've observed that many individuals have unique breathing patterns that may not fully support their health. This 8-week course is designed to help you explore the full capacity of your breath, understand its profound influence on your overall well-being, and learn techniques to breathe with greater ease. Each week will build upon the last, guiding you toward a more complete and beneficial breathing practice.

MOVEMENT FOR ACTORS, Study all aspects of human movement. Become embodied, gain a detailed vocabulary for movement, & tools for clear choice-making for your character & performance. Clear & concise feedback and on-the-spot coaching from the instructor, who is a Certified Movement Analyst and passionate about creating space for actors to progress through the creative process. This course empowers actors to experience the joy of exploration and the reward of pinning down their choices. PREREQUISITE: LBMS FOUNDATIONS.
